During the school year, I donated a cake to a fundraiser auction at my son's school. The person that won wanted a "Speed Racer" birthday cake for her son. Here it is:
For this cake I made a small stack of law books with a little graduation hat and diploma. The law books were Constitutional Law and Evidence. The person I made this for really enjoyed cutting up the books.
My wonderful friend turned 40 and we had a big party for her. I sent an e-mail out to friends asking for words, ideas, and characteristics that they think of when they think of Tran. I then put it on a cake.
Along with the cake, I made cupcakes that spelled out "Happy 40th Birthday".
I made this cake for an 8 year old birthday party. The theme was horses and the favorite color was orange. So we did a horse coral with orange flowers. 
At the end of March I competed in a wedding cake competition and attended a cake convention. I had a great time and learned a lot. My cake was nowhere near the top of the list for the best, but I enjoyed making it. I loved learning the flowers and enjoyed having to create my own cake out of specific guidelines. I was given a mock interview from a wedding couple and had to pick 4 things from it for my cake. The colors were ivory, navy blue, and kiwi green. The flowers were peonies, calla lilies, and orchids. The shape was not supposed to be round, so I did hexagon. The monogram was KKA. I really did learn a lot and I am so glad that I did this. I will definitely do it again in the future!
